Kentuckiana Farms was established in 1975 by Tom and Betty Crouch. Its main farm is located on 1,400 acres in Fayette, Kentucky, but the company also rents a New Jersey location in New Egypt at Continental Farms.

Continental Farms also was founded in 1975 by Hakan Wallner, Berndt Lindstedt and Jan Johnson, who started with seven horses. It grew to a peak of 120 horses in 1988. In 1992, the farm purchased the Egyptian Acres training facility in New Egypt. That facility serves as the farm’s center of activity for part of the year after horses are sent there in April from wintering over at Sunshine Meadows in Delray Beach, Florida. There were 25 horses in the barn in July 2005.
